Newspaper vendors within Ogba environs have decried low patronage of the newspaper business.
Stating
reasons for this development, some of the newspapers vendors informed that the intervention
of the online medium had been the reason for the slow pace of their business.
The online medium, has evolved around publishing of news events before the publication of the newspapers, which comes out the following day.
According to a vendor, Basil, he said ‘the newspaper business is no more booming due to the intervention of the online medium, and this has been killing the business as sales were not coming again as expected’

order to expand its growth and to boost the economy.
Another
vendor, identified as Emeka, said that the business is no more lucrative, and
it is a poor man business, and this is a result of the online medium, which is
not making the business worthwhile again.
“The
online medium is gradually killing our business, in the sense that everyone no
longer buy newspaper again, because news had been flowing around even a day
before the publication of the newspaper and then what do they need the
newspaper for again” he queried
However,
an unidentified vendor, refused to speak with our reporters, on the ground of
paying him some money in order to give us some information.
